The Manager - Pharmacy manages the daily operations of clinical pharmacy services.
Responsibilities:
" Develops and implements performance improvement activities to include medication safety, medication use evaluation and pharmacoeconomics.
" Conducts competency assessments and coordinates training and development of pharmacists, pharmacy residents and pharmacy students.
" Develops and manages departmental budget to promote pharmacoeconomics.
" Ensures compliance with federal, state, and Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Also serves on various committees.
" Schedules daily work assignments for pharmacy staff.
" Trains, coaches, and evaluates associates on performance expectations, and applies progressive discipline when appropriate. Participates in hiring and termination procedures within span of control.
" Serves as pharmacy preceptor to pharmacy students and residents.
" Supervises the daily activities of the pharmacy staff by acting as a liaison between the pharmacy department, other hospital departments and external customers in matters relating to pharmacy operations. This includes managing and updating Physician Order Power Plans.
Pharmacists not only distribute prescription drugs to patients, they also advise patients, physicians and other healthcare providers on the correct selection and dosage, as well as possible drug interactions and side effects. Pharmacists may also specialize in specific drug therapy areas (e.g. intravenous nutrition support, oncology, nuclear pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, psychiatric pharmacy) and work in a number of settings, such as:

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
" Bachelor's Level Degree
" 3+ years' experience required.
" Graduate of an accredited college degree program in Pharmacy required; Board Certification preferred; Pharm D. preferred; Residency preferred.
" Experience with Pyxis and Cerner preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
" Current Florida Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist licensure required
