Description

We have an immediate opening for a Transportation Analyst at our Mundelein, Illinois headquarters. The Transportation Analyst is a self-directed, highly motivated individual who will analyze data, help negotiate carrier pricing and develop transportation solutions that satisfy Medline’s service and growth requirements at targeted cost levels. Communication and analytical skills are a must as this position gathers and assesses shipment data across multiple systems. The Analyst will communicate daily with various levels within Medline as well as vendor and carrier partners. This individual will work closely with the Operations group to increase shipment/cost visibility and ensure sufficient transportation capacity is in place to support Medline’s distribution network. In addition to exceptional leadership and analytical skills, you must have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude.

Challenging responsibilities:
  • Generate transportation cost and service performance metrics for internal division, operations team and carrier review meetings.
  • Work with branches and Transportation Operations to help maintain service levels while achieving route guide compliance targets.
  • Perform ad-hoc transportation cost analyses, evaluate expense trends across general ledger accounts and help develop transportation solutions that optimize costs.
  • Communicate with vendors and third-party logistics providers to answer questions and continuously improve Medline’s inbound routing program.
  • Monitor carrier performance and generate scorecards to drive continuous improvement across cost and service. Assist in the audit and payment of freight bills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree (concentration in Logistics, Transportation, Finance or Business preferred)
  • 2-3 years of experience in a Transportation, Supply Chain, Distribution or Business Analyst role
  • Thorough knowledge of the transportation industry
  • Strong analytical and financial aptitude
  • Background in TMS systems
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Adaptable with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • SAP experience a plus
