This position will be responsible for effectively and appropriately coordinating the resources within the Regulatory finance department to furnish financial information in a timely manner and report effectively on a legal entity level for all assigned legal entities. The analyst will assist the Director of Finance in analyzing data of past and current operations, trends and costs of estimated and realized revenues and critical balance sheet components. The analyst will interact with the management team of various segments, assist them to understand the key statutory financial information they need for proactively detect any errors/mispostings, to achieve data /reporting consistency and improve upon MLR rebate process and filing of Supplemental Healthcare Exhibit.

Strong emphasis on developing various analytics that identify trends/ratios in the portfolio that can be used to interpret business and risk decisions to Regulators, Government agencies and other related constituents.

Other duties include but not limited to participate in constructing forecast and budgets for legal entities, simplifying complex presentations/exhibits for Board of Directors meetings, identifying and recommending financial problems or issues related to reporting processes, research solutions, and validate all financial reports for accuracy and reasonableness.  Must be a team player.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required in Accounting or Finance related field)
  • 3+ years experience in US GAAP or US Insurance Financial Planning & Analysis is required 
  • Must have current proficiency within intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills ( pivot tables and v-lookups) 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA and/or MBA 
  • Exposure to US Insurance Financial Planning & Analysis 
  • Health care industry experience a plus
  • Microsoft Access, Hyperion Essbase & Peoplesoft GL experience
Capabilities:
  • Demonstrated experience with and broad knowledge of financial principles, practices and procedures as applied to complex assignments
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines and should be self-driven in nature with minimal supervision on day to day activities
  • Work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
  • Attention to details and accuracy with analytical bent
