Parts Outside Sales RepresentativeSummary: An experienced Parts Outside Sales Representative is needed to build and maintain customer relationships by presenting a consultative sales approach to existing and/or potential customers.

Parts Outside Sales Representative Responsibilities:
  • Researches the part request on computer software and works with customer to establish the correct part to be ordered.
  • Secures orders from existing and potential customers by means of visiting the customer facility or contacting by phone.
  • Develops a strategic follow up strategy, consistently follows up on quotes submitted to existing and potential customers by phone or visiting in person.
  • Establishes professional customer/vendor relationships with appropriate customer personnel.
  • Obtains opportunities to quote on existing and potential customer requirements.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms in a clear and effective written proposal.
  • Places parts on order by inputting parts into the computer system or submits to shipping department for immediate shipment from parts warehouse.
  • Works with inside parts sales representatives to identify parts needed by customers with a team approach to fulfilling the customer's request.
  • Conserves organizational resources, works within budget, and contributes to profits and revenue.
  • Reads catalogs on computer to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.
  • Prepares sales slips or sales contracts.
  • Advises customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
  • Communicate with people outside the organization, representing Leonard Bus to customers, the public, and other external sources.
  • Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Maintains a current AOR sales plan.
  • Service existing accounts, obtain parts orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential customers.
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, and competitive activities.
  • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits.
  • Creates presentations and presents to existing and potential customers.
  • Promptly responds to all generated leads.
  • Attends work on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Attends trade shows and company functions to build relationships and grow sales.
  • Submits weekly activity/call reports concerning customer related activities for quotes, orders, and problems concerning customer/vendor relationships.
  • Pursue training and development opportunities for technical skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualified Candidates For The Position Will Have Met The Following:
  • Required:
    • 5 years of previous experience in parts sales is required.
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Experience in computerized inventory software and ordering systems
    • Must possess a valid Driver's license.
