Unit Type: Med Surg/Tele/Critical Care/Peds/PICU/ED
Typical Nurse to patient ratio: From simple Wound, skin abrasion to complex wound
Typical Diagnosis:
Diabetes, CHF, Cancer, Liver, ESRD, Post Transplant
Special Skills required: Wound & Ostomy Certified
RN will float throughout the LAMC inpatient care services campus
Unlicensed assistive personnel or other nurse extenders used in unit: assisting patient in turning or holding patiend during wound care
Computer skills:
Health Connect or Electronic Medical record skills required
The enterostomal therapy nurse (ET RN) and wound, ostomy, and continence nurse (WOCN RN) assist in the management and rehabilitation of patients with wounds, ostomies, abdominal stomas, incontinence, and skin conditions. Working to prevent pressure ulcers, ET/WOC RNs also assist in colorectal surgery, urology, pediatrics, and oncology, and practice in hospitals, private practice facilities, outpatient clinics, extended care facilities, home care, and in industry, research, and nursing education programs.
