JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Patient Transporter is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner to all guests during their entire stay. The Internal Patient Transporter is also responsible for transfer and transport of all patients within the hospital environment by wheelchair, stretcher or bed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Customer service experience preferred

Computer experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and write standard English language

Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos

Must be able to write simple correspondence

Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance

Must be able to understand 24 hour and military time systems

Clearly understand rates applicable to time passed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to walk long distances, occasionally sit and run, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Must be able to stand during entire shift

Must be able to regularly stand, walk, run, use hands to finger, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear

Must be able to regularly lift up to 100 pounds frequently and up to 150 pounds occasionally

Must be able to push and pull (on wheelchair or stretcher) 100 to 350 pounds frequently over considerable distances

Must have close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and ability to adjust focus

Flexible and long hours sometimes required

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and clean driving record

For insurance purposes, must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background, MVR and drug screen

Must complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course provided by Towne Park

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY/LOSS PREVENTION:

Knowledge of site specific safety and security procedures

Follow all safety, infection control and confidentiality guidelines set forth by the client and Towne Park

Clean and maintain transport equipment after and before each use

Report any needed repairs to the site manager in writing

Practice preventative safety procedures as set forth by Towne Park

Report all accidents and incidents observed on shift to guest service coordinator or manager immediately

Use only equipment trained to use and operates all equipment in a safe manner

GUEST SERVICE:

Maintain pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, location staff and co-workers

Acknowledge and greet guests within 30 seconds while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor

Use guest last name at all times when appropriate

Explain all procedures to the patient prior to beginning transfer or transport

Collect transport equipment and return it to the appropriate storage area

Ensure patient comfort, safety and privacy at all times

Communicate patient needs to clinical staff upon arrival to the designated area

Communicate patient arrival and/or departure to appropriate clinical staff. Must perform a physical handoff with receiving clinical staff

Confirm patient identity in accordance with written standards before transporting patient

Maintain CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.

Ensure that patients are not left unattended while in the care of the transporter

Transport and secure medical charts when conducting patient transports

Utilize proper safe patient handling techniques

Escort visitors as needed between departments; provide way finding services as needed

Demonstrate proper use of the patient transport tracking system/log sheets.

Provide and change oxygen tanks for transport

Be familiar with hospital emergency codes and procedures in accordance with JCAHO standards.

Maintain accuracy and composure while under pressure

Appropriately use salutation of the day

Use Towne Park proper phone etiquette

Post up in appropriate areas when not completing tasks

Conduct an effective and efficient room presentation

Knowledge of all hotel, hospital and casino outlets, meeting rooms, amenities as well as main attractions in the area, parking rates, etc.

SYSTEMS AND STANDARDS:

Complete all tasks in a timely manner as instructed by manager

Follows all appearance standards as set forth by Towne Park, including complete approved pressed uniform

Follows all attendance standards as set forth by Towne Park, as required by the scheduling which may vary according to the needs of the location

Execute all terms and conditions as set forth in Towne Park's employee handbook and Compass Check

Maintain clean, neat work environment including all surrounding areas of transportation room

Follow all Towne Park standards and regulations
