As the Associate Director, Actuarial Services you will lead and manage a team with responsibility for coaching Actuaries and developing student actuaries. You will be a State Actuary supporting the Individual medical product line. You will work with the health plans to develop product strategy and pricing for the on-exchange individual products. You will also work with UnitedHealthOne to develop product and pricing for the off-exchange market place.
As the Associate Director, Actuarial Services, you will be a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for health plan leadership in ensuring that program rates are competitive, adequate and actuarially sound. You will lead analytical efforts to support the rate setting process, and will determine its impact on premiums and various product proposals. You will provide consultative services on pricing methodologies and the preparation of cost estimates. Additional projects will include evaluating actuarial models and supporting regulatory filings.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- ASA or FSA designation required
- 5+ years of Actuarial experience
- Prior actuarial experience in health care, specifically with experience in developing program rates and pricing methodologies for Medicare, HMO, PPO, POS, Medicaid or Specialty Benefits products
- 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
- Advanced level proficiency in building models in MS Excel, SAS and/or SQL
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
