Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of ALL payroll activity. This position is responsible for processing hourly employee payroll accurately and timely to ensure hourly employees are paid appropriately.

Expectations
  • Process payroll weekly for up to 6,000 employees
  • Act as the first point of contact for all payroll related matters
  • Ensure that the payroll processing company's system contains correct and accurate information on all hourly employees
  • Communicate actively with Human Resources to maintain accurate records for employees
  • Perform a variety of payroll reports, reconciliations and analyses using advanced Excel formulas
  • Collaborate with other managers to process multiple inquiries
  • Prepare W-2s
  • Maintain a variety of sensitive, electronic, and physical files
  • Manage temporary payroll staff during harvest season
  • Administer hourly employees' vacation and bonus eligibility and payments
  • Manage the third-party payroll provider relationship
  • Manage the annual workers' compensation audit with the Assistant Controller
  • Participate in key initiatives such as business process redesign, cost savings initiatives, and system development projects
  • Other duties as required


Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience at a managerial level


Skills
  • Solid knowledge of payroll tax and labor law compliance
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior demonstrated PC skills (Excel, Access)
  • Previous ERP software experience
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-entity environment
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
