Scope Summary
The Retail Associate demonstrates behaviors consistent with Goodwill’s Historic Values, Basic Principles and Standards of Conduct and may function in various capacities within the retail location.  Additionally, the associate supports the management staff through embracing and demonstrating Goodwill’s Five Basic Principles. 

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.   • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Team player, solid work ethic and adherence to procedures and protocol including maintaining confidentiality in passwords, logging on and off procedures, adherence to the 5 Basic Principles, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work including safety awareness
  • Good time management skills
  • Must be able to bend, stand, stretch, grip, type and carry for long periods of time
  • Some positions will require carrying items in excess of 10 pounds and up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to view a computer screen regularly
  • Effective to superior reading, writing and math skills relative to the role assigned
  • Familiarity with computers and relevant software including basic computer and internet navigation skills

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for various functions within the retail setting.  Various Roles and Responsibilities of a Retail Associate include:

Cashier

  • Provides excellent customer service by accurately ringing up customer orders and maintaining a balanced drawer
  • Provides general information about Goodwill programs to educate customers and answers questions.  Directs all higher level questions to appropriate associate or manager
  • Counterfeit, quick change artist check for $20 bill and above
  • Follows all cash handling procedures and protocols including requesting manager’s assistance for sales $50 or above
  • Maintain cleanliness of sales floor (purge, colorize, run racks,  merchandise)
  • Stays abreast of company procedures by successfully passing all quizzes

Textile Producer

  • Provides a consistent, top quality customer experience by sorting product to identify quality (check for holes, buttons, zippers, stains) and properly barbing, tagging, and hanging textiles to produce 100 pieces per hour 
  • Accurately groups textiles together (categorize by light to dark and solid to prints)
  • Updates daily production tracking sheet
  • In addition to the general qualifications listed above, physical demands for this position will include occasional use of a pallet jack

Wares Producer

  • Provides a consistent, top quality customer experience by sorting product to identify quality and value and preparing items (clean as needed) for the sales floor at 100 items per hour
  • Utilizes good judgment in pricing and properly tagging items in accordance with Goodwill pricing standards
  • Updates daily production tracking sheet
  • In addition to the general qualifications listed above, physical demands for this position will include regular use of a conveyor belt

Donation Door Attendant

  • Provides excellent customer service by professionally and quickly accepting donations from customers and maintaining a clean and clear donation door
  • Educates customers on current Goodwill promotions including the rewards program
  • Quickly and accurately sort products and distributes to appropriate areas
  • Loads and unloads truck as needed
  • Maintains an efficient working area by ensuring the backroom is clean and organized (all boxes labeled, everything in its place and a place for everything)
  • In addition to the general qualifications listed above, physical demands for this position will include regular use of heavy equipment including a pallet jack, double stacker, floor scrubber and hydraulic lift

E-Commerce Producer

  • Ensure Goodwill meets the principle of Good Stewardship by developing a keen eye to identify and secure items of value for Clickgoodwill
  • Ensure Goodwill meets the principle of Good Stewardship by staying informed of market value of merchandise through eBay and other internet shopping sites to properly tag, itemize, and secure items in tote for Clickgoodwill
  • Properly, efficiently and carefully palletize, wrap, and ship totes to Clickgoodwill to meet store quota regarding totes shipped per week
  • Educates team of high ticket items to look for

E-Books Producer

  • Scan every book received by store and determine whether it is to be sent to Clickgoodwill or displayed at the store location to meet store quota of number of books to be scanned per week
  • Properly print inventory sheets, pack, seal, and ship totes for Clickgoodwill
  • Provides excellent customer service by identifying top sellers and managing a clean, organized, sales effective display

Rack Runner/Cart Runner

  • Check each rack to ensure quality and value
  • Properly colorize and merchandise sales floor
  • Purge sales floor
  • Maintain a clean and orderly sales floor, put away carts and stock shelves
  • Ability to run 1 textile rack/wares cart per 15 minutes
  • Update daily production tracking sheet
