What does a Best Buy Connections Specialist do?

The Connections Specialist is an expert to sell and drive connections services by training their peers how to recommend the right solution as well as how to sign customers up for connections services. The primary responsibility of the connections specialist is to help build a store-wide connections culture to sell connections services as a natural part of the sales process in a manner relevant to the customer’s needs. They support the store leadership team by driving the selling proficiency for connections services through education and mentoring other sales consultants throughout the store on how to serve the customer through our connections solutions.

80% of your time you will:

  • Provide expert service: This role represents the top sales person and is expected to spend 80% of their time engaging customers to sell connections solutions. This includes the hardware (routers, set-top boxes, smart TVs, tablets, gaming) and connections services (cable TV, DIRECTV, Internet, home phone, and home automation/alarm) to complete the solution.
  • Engage customers by using selling skills to build complex, connected solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where customers feel supported and leave delighted.
  • Inspire customers by showing them what’s possible with technology.
  • Actively engage sales consultants on connections training. Develop deep relationships with other sales consultants to build a culture and confidence in recommending connections solutions throughout the store.
  • Partner with sales managers and supervisors to provide peer feedback. Coach sales consultants in all departments to improve the connections sales performance and customer experience.
  • Model appropriate sales and coaching behaviors.
20% of your time you will:

  • Support market vendor representatives by understanding the brand strategy and service offerings and acting as a single point of contact in the areas of merchandising, training and programming/offer changes. Partner with store leadership to ensure execution of all service partner strategies; and as listed above, teach out the strategy and offers to peers.
  • Use innovative training tools to stay current and confident and as a result; drive profitable growth and achieve connections performance goals.
  • Accumulate and apply the appropriate knowledge and expertise through continuous learning and self-development, enabling you to provide an excellent customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What are the Professional Requirements of a Connections Specialist?
Basic Requirements:

  • 3-6 months experience working in customer service or sales
Preferred Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years retail experience
