Spray Technician in Red Wing, MN



Perform a variety of duties to spray polyurethane to produce boots. Assemble and test clean room assemblies rotating between clean room and booting areas as workload requires.

I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Review work orders for number, type of boots and dates needed. Place mandrel on machine and clean as necessary and apply release agent. In accordance with formulas, measure and mix required polyurethane and hardener materials. Apply mist coat to ensure mold release integrity. Use hand held or automatic spray guns to apply polyurethane to achieve desired thickness. Maintain visual watch over operations and adjust spraying as required to compensate for heat and humidity. Use dial indicator to measure thickness.

Set up automatic sprayer to include setting stops. May hand spray polyurethane coating to add additional materials in selected portions of work on automatic sprayer as specified in work orders?

Apply lotion and strip completed products off of mandrel and cut to length as specified.

Clean and maintain spray guns. Replace parts as needed. Clean all glass beakers. Clean and maintain spray booths to include cleaning blower fans and replacing air filters.

Review inventory of materials weekly and turn in bag tickets to reorder materials.

Air test boot extensions and gauntlets. Connect air tight plates to ends, inflate and immerse in water trough to check for leaks. Dry boots and gauntlets with cloths and add anti-stick powder.

Notify inspection of completed products.

Rotation into clean room as required. Assemble, test and package clean room parts as required.

Other duties as assigned.

II. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

III. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able stand up to 90 % of the day, climb ladders and work at elevated heights. Bending, stooping and twisting are required. Requires hand dexterity and small motor skills. Must clear medical respirator and chemical handling exams required to work in Booting Area.

IV. QUALIFICATIONS: Basic math skills and high school diploma or equivalent required. Requires ability to read, write and interpret prints to complete assemblies. Must be able to mentally track several jobs simultaneously and actively stay productive at all times. Requires close attention to detail.
