Director of Purchasing (Lab & Diagnostics)

Medline Industries, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Global Sourcing Director based in our Mundelein, IL world headquarters. This position will be primarily responsible for all strategic and tactical sourcing activities (both internationally and domestic) for our Diagnostic and Laboratory Supplies product lines. The challenging responsibilities of the position include:

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Build collaborative partnerships with a wide variety of clinical and scientific lab supply vendors.

· Serve as the primary liaison between vendors and Medline.

· Facilitate the registration and on-boarding process for new vendors.

· Plan and attend quarterly business reviews with vendors (may require travel, mostly domestic).

· Negotiate vendor contracts and manage internal review process.

· Achieve improved financial terms and conditions through constant negotiation.

· Lead sourcing projects from beginning to end, including vendor selection, price negotiation and vendor product setup.

· Work closely with Product Management to enhance gross profit through cost reductions, new vendors, reduction of waste, and aggressively pursuing market opportunities.

· Collaborate with Medline Shanghai on global sourcing projects.

· Reduce the amount of service level issues at the vendor to maintain customer satisfaction.

· This position supervises a Global Sourcing Manager.

· May also perform other tasks normal to this occupation, as needed .

Qualification

Education, Skills & Experience:

· Master's degree in business, life science, or engineering, plus three (3) years of relevant business experience, including experience with supply distribution.

· In lieu of the stated primary requirement, employer will accept a related Bachelor's degree, plus five (5) years of relevant business experience, including experience with supply distribution.

· Candidates must have demonstrable success negotiating multi-year vendor contracts.

· Individual must also have a well-rounded background in sourcing, vendor relations and a familiarity with distribution operations.

· In addition, individual must have experience using the following: ISO, Six Sigma (general understanding), Excel, PowerPoint, AS400, SAP, Word, Outlook, & Microsoft Project.

• The position involves travel, both domestic and international, approximately 15-20% of the time.
