This position is responsible for applying the proper application of US GAAP to Rubio's accounting procedures for various daily and monthly accounting functions necessary to support our month end and year end close.

Specifically, this position is responsible and accountable for reconciling general ledger accounts, and compiling and analyzing various daily, weekly and monthly financial statements and reports for all Company-owned restaurants.

Essential Job Duties

• Assist with the month-end accounting close process. Ensure financials conform to US GAAP which includes performing technical accounting research as necessary. Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, to include complex reconciliations.
• Prepare and evaluate journal entries and account reconciliations for completeness and accuracy. Review general ledger activity, research and correct account discrepancies. Ability to independently research and resolve all reconciling items on a monthly basis. principles while maintaining a high level of visibility to enable flawless execution.
• Assist in streamlining financial and business processes to identify cost savings, efficiencies and improvements, as well as monitoring and evaluating the operating effectiveness of internal controls.
• Perform P&L and Balance Sheet variance analysis on a monthly basis, to include evaluating and thoroughly documenting current-to-prior year and current-to-budget fluctuations.
• Compile and reconcile treasury management data for daily and monthly reporting.
• Coordinate, reconcile and review monthly rent payment files for all company locations. Assist in auditing and reviewing CAM reconciliations for all company locations.
• Coordinate accounting entries with other departments. Generate general ledger and financial reports from the accounting system and review for accuracy.
• Assist in providing necessary monthly, quarterly and annual audit requests for management and internal/external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and controls.
• Interact with various departments within the Company and with restaurant managers.
• Assist with other projects and assignments as determined by the Senior Accounting Manager and Controller including assisting in cross-training staff accountants and provide direction in absence of (and in conjunction with) the Senior Accounting Manager.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Multi-unit restaurant and/or retail experience a plus. Large company experience with revenues over $100 million preferred.
• Strong analytical and technical accounting skills, to include a thorough knowledge of US GAAP.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Superior math skills.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Products, FRx and Great Plains.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Ability to use good independent judgement and understanding of complex business situations.
• Must be self-directed with the ability to perform multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced team oriented office environment. Must work with a high sense of urgency and possess a high degree of organizational skills and attention to detail.
