The Teradata Data Base Administrator is responsible for the following:


-Actively participate in all phases of project development life cycle including database policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation, database design, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis, performance/tuning, capacity planning, and production implementation


-Production support responsibilities include maximizing system availability, ensuring swift and complete database recovery, optimizing database and availability through ongoing maintenance, and ensure conformance to audit and operating standards
-Provide status reports to senior management
-Participate in the evaluation, and recommendation of appropriate hardware and software resources

Job Overview

Experienced Teradata Database Administrators needed design, build and implement a very large data warehouse using Teradata DBMS technology.

Job Responsibilities:

- Actively participate in all phases of project software development life cycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, database design, physical data modeling, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis, performance/tuning, capacity planning, and production implementation.

- Production support responsibilities include maximizing system availability, optimizing database and availability through ongoing maintenance, and ensure conformance to audit and operating standards.

- Provide instruction and support to junior team members.

- Provide technical support to developers.

- Integration of new capabilities into existing systems.

- Uphold enterprise and department guidelines and policies.

- Recommend and promote improvements to existing policy and procedure.

- Provide status reporting to management.

Requirements

- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

Requirements:

- Degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience.

- 7+ years of experience in the Information Technology profession.

- 5+ years of experience working with DBMS.

- 3+ years of Teradata DBA experience.

- Demonstrated complex analytical problem solving skills.

 

-Experience with design and modeling

- Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.

- Ability to influence technical solutions in a technical forum.

- Broad knowledge of relational database technologies.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience with using the following Teradata Utilities: Bteq, multiload, fastload, fastexport, Tpump, TPT, TD explain utility, visual explain, TSET, TD Index Wizard, TD Statistics Wizard, ViewPoint, and SQL Assistant.

- Detailed knowledge of Teradata system tables.


Assets:

 

- UNIX experience (shell scripting, awk, sed, grep, sort, vi, etc.) is strongly preferred


- CASE and/or data modeling tools experience, preferably ERWin with experience in generating DDL, and LDM to PDM migration are preferred.

-Experience with Atana Enterprise is preferred

-Experience ODBC driver is preferred

-Experience with .NET is preferred

-Previous experience as a developer in a data warehouse environment is preferred

-Experience working in an Agile environment is a definite plus is preferred


Positions in this function design, implement and maintain all functions of database systems, including access, methods and time, device allocations, validation checks, organization, security, documentation, and statistical methodology. Monitors overall standards and procedures, assists in integrating various systems. Consults with users, determine requirements and recommends database establishment and utilization.
