This opportunity is a senior level relational and consultative role within Optum Global Solutions (OGS). The qualified individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and delivering strategic and operational growth for OGS's service delivery organization with a focus on PBM and Life Sciences services. This will be achieved through executive-level thought leadership and consultative development efforts in a sophisticated healthcare services and PBM environment.

Specifically, the role will focus on delivering improved economic performance/results through key stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills. The individual will also work closely with the OGS Service Delivery teams and leaders to leverage the organization's current qualifications and new capabilities within both existing and targeted operational areas. Representative activities will include:

Credibly attending and driving senior client and business executive meetings through a clear demonstration of one's own domain/industry experience
Gaining an understanding of clients' business issues to propose high level initiatives and develop Global Sourcing-sponsored solutions in response to such meetings, and driving successful results to these discussions.
Strategic account planning and development in a heavily-matrixed environment
Vertical and Horizontal global delivery promotion from mid-level to C-level management
Deliverable production

This individual will need to be able to function in a team environment with multiple internal constituencies, abstract and fluid environments, and simultaneous deadlines. The position will require a solid understanding of industry-wide best practices that will lead to an appropriate blend of vertical and horizontal healthcare BPO and/or solutions in esoteric operational environments, create and deliver original and compelling presentations and work with diverse teams to deliver on the solution and/or consulting needs. The individual will be required to create and deliver original, high quality presentations and proposals at all levels within the company.

LOCATION: Southern California (Irvine/Costa Mesa area) Preferred. Should also be willing to accommodate up to 50% travel.

Requirements

 


The candidate's underlying experience should ideally be a combination of 10+ years operations and client managment or consulting experience in a national healthplan, PBM, or healthcare BPO environment.


BPO/Offshoring experience in Healthcare (PBM/Life Sciences preferred)
6-8 years of PBM Industry experience (2-3 years PBM consulting experience strongly preferred)
Proven track record of being in a client facing role, leading consulting projects
Thorough understanding of the PBM value chain (i.e. Members, Providers, Clients/TPAs/Brokers, Manufacturers and Regulatory bodies).
Thorough understanding and hands-on experience in PBM functional/operational areas (e.g. Benefit Design, Claims Processing, Clinical Services, Formulary Management, Rebates, Specialty Pharmacy, Medicare Part D, Portal etc.)
Good knowledge of PBM industry trends, innovations and forecasts
Prior business development experience
Extensive understanding of the managed care and/or healthcare environment
Financial/Cost Management Analysis
Superb persuasion and communication skills
Outstanding writing skills


4 to 7 years managerial experience
Solid analytical and presentation skills, including advanced and prolific PowerPoint experience


PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Project Management and previous experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) a plus.
Six Sigma
Understanding of business strategy consulting


Demonstrated thought leadership (e.g. authored/co-authored white papers etc.)


PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum BA/BS, but an MHA, MPH, or MBA from an accredited program is preferred
