As part of this group within our Enterprise Project Management Organization you will be working on clinical projects/programs, you will predominantly be involved in overseeing projects that result in new or enhanced clinical capabilities that span multiple functional areas (UHN, Clinical Services, Optum, IT). You will be a leader in providing oversight, managing projects, scheduling, budgeting, scope, project risks, as well as relationship building over IT solutions across our enterprise of applications in order to deliver business value.
This is a unique role where you will have influence and input across the enterprise with key leaders and business partners. This role is based in our Minnetonka, MN office. There will be no travel in this role.
As part of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), the Senior IT Project Manager will be accountable for delivering projects in support of United Health Group's IT Application Development initiatives. The IT Project Manager is expected to work in a matrixed organization and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Leading overall engagements/projects/programs to successful completion
- Owning, end-to-end accountability for program project delivery
- Engaging with client leadership to ensure proper expectation setting
- Effectively interface with senior management and key stakeholders regarding project deliverables, project status, identification of issues, burn rate and trend analysis
- Driving consensus and decision-making with business, IT and executive management
- Influencing senior leaders to balance competing priorities
- Leading matrixed teams to common solutions
- Maintaining visibility on day-to-day activities with project teams and ensuring sufficient face-time with key executive stakeholders
- Managing project financials
- Mitigating risks and addressing program / project obstacles as needed
- Leading, coaching, managing and mentoring project managers and consultants
- Proactive; self-starter; quick study; able to perform and produce results with minimal supervision
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of IT Project Management experience in a highly matrixed, Fortune 500 company
- 5+ years of application development Project Management experience
- 7+ years working hands-on with all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Visio, Excel and PowerPoint
- 3+ years of experience managing or tracking budgets, resources, and project financials
- Experience with PPM tools (Planview, Clarity, MS Project Server etc..)
- Experience managing resources and financials within Planview
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or other recognized industry certification
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodology
- Healthcare industry experience
- Demonstrated ability to use earned value metrics (EVM) and other project management techniques for measuring project performance and progress in an objective manner
