  • Responsible for ensuring qualified referrals for therapy.
  • Works in conjunction with the billing department to ensure that necessary billing documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures rational product selection and data entry to increase operational earnings while minimizing operational expenses.
  • Assists in sales and marketing, development of contracts, other outreach activities involving referral sources and payors.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
  • Works with nursing supervisory staff to develop collaborative patient care programs.
  • Works with other employees to resolve problems and assure quality patient care.
  • Develops necessary corrective action to resolve deficiencies.
  • Involved in the production of new clinical programs and/or marketing activities to physicians, nursing agencies and referral sources. May be responsible for management of Customer Service and Distribution.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice, policies and procedures, "best practices", and other regulatory standards.
  • Ensure department participation in branch performance improvement activity. Keeps abreast of related regulations and informs staff of payor and regulatory changes.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, continuing education, coaching, performance appraisal, and disciplining of subordinate staff.
  • Coordinates, directs and provides coaching for the activities of subordinate
  • Infusion personnel, assures their compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Develops and recommends changes to ensure efficient workflow to allow for the effective delivery of medications and other pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of tasks. May supervise up to 8 primarily non-exempt employees.
  • Performs quality control checks on subordinate staff work.
  • Ensures medications and other pharmaceuticals are compounded and dispensed in an accurate manner.
  • Ensures completeness of pharmacy orders and proper labeling of drugs and supplies before dispensing products to patients. May purchase medications, pharmaceuticals and other supplies necessary for the efficient operation of the pharmacy.
  • Ensures rational drug use, appropriate drug dosing, monitors and documents patient response to therapy and progression to desired clinical goals.
  • Ensures clinical conferences with other staff occur on an ongoing basis.
  • Acts as a back-up to subordinate staff by handling orders from patients, referral sources, and physicians, and providing information on equipment, supplies and services.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Pharmacy and/or PharmD is required.
  • At least six years related experience is required.
  • Current pharmacy license in appropriate state of practice is required.
