System Administrator - POS/Retail

Overview:

Seeking a Retail Systems Administrator for our retail client. He/she will be responsible for working with the Retail Engineering team to engineer, implement, and support the client's retail environments. The Retail Systems Administrator is expected to have advanced server and retail point of sale management and troubleshooting skills in a Windows 200X domain.

Under general direction, as a top level contributor, independently designs client server architecture to include hardware platforms, client applications, server services, Operating Systems, network equipment as applies to campus LAN and Data Center infrastructure. Partners with architecture group on client server infrastructure design issues. Provides 3rd or 4th level support for client OS and server NOS. Evaluates, tests and makes recommendations on new/upgrades to hardware, OS, NOS, network and applications and their impact on existing system configurations. Independently researches and resolves moderately to highly complex technical problems. Documents standards, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting processes. May act as project manager on one or more projects.

Key Accountabilities:

• Designs or may lead the design of new client server architecture to include hardware platforms, client applications, server services, OS, network LAN equipment and NOS.
• Partners with architecture group on client server infrastructure design issues.
• Acts as lead for new direction of hardware platforms, OS, and NOS. Evaluates, tests and makes recommendations on new/upgrades to hardware, OS, NOS, network LAN and applications and their impact on existing system configurations.
• Evaluates and recommends new infrastructure services and troubleshooting tools.
• May act as lead on medium sized to large projects to provide integrated team support and maintenance of hardware and software as needed.
• Performs cost analysis and feasibility studies on new client server designs. Creates RFPs to bring in new technology.
• Designs implementation processes for moderately to highly complex projects.
• Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced.
• Prepares documentation for support of new technologies, applications, OS, network LAN and NOS.
• Supports Field Services as 3rd or 4th level support for applications, Windows 2008, 2012 and Windows 8.1 industry
• Provides technical expertise to FOBs in the development of systems solutions.
• When assuming the project manager role, manages day-to-day project-related activities for highly complex projects.
• Prepares documentation on all phases of projects.
• Manages customer expectations. Keeps the customer aware of the project status and critical issues and risks.
• Responsible for creating and presenting technical white papers to management and peers.
• May be responsible for training, mentoring, directing, and validating the work of less experienced/knowledgeable analysts.
• Keeps management well informed on a timely basis of progress, status, and concerns for each assignment.
• Effectively communicates ideas and information to peers, management, and customers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains all hardware, administrative tools, and network LAN infrastructure supporting MST main campus.

Skills Summary:

• Experienced in articulating complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experienced in analyzing significant volumes of detailed information and understanding the security implications
• Experienced in understanding complex systems across diverse technical platforms
• 2 years experience with Windows 2008, 2012 and Windows 8.1 Industry
• Expert skill level in security vulnerability scanning tools
• 2years experience with McAfee ePO or BIT9 and other Endpoint and Server Security products
• Powershell Scripting experience REQUIRED
• Experience managing 10,000+ Embedded POS endpoints
