Responsibilities
The Assigned Client Engineer (ACE) will provide services as the primary engineer assigned to client accounts in support of their systems, infrastructure and daily administration and management. The ACE will work closely with Service Managers and internal teams to ensure that all aspects of the customer's ongoing system support and administration are successful. The ACE will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation as needed. The ACE will be available for escalations 24x7 on an on-call basis. He/She will conduct ongoing training for first line support personnel on their assigned customer's environment. The ACE advises the customer and acts as their SME (subject matter expert) for their environment for ongoing upgrades and infrastructure improvements. This person will be responsible for troubleshooting resource commitment, performance analysis and tuning, and various networking and storage issues in a large scale virtualized production environment. The engineer will be responsible for engaging resources from our Shared Systems, Hosted Area Network, and OSS Application groups. With a focus on customer service, this position will allow for a positive customer experience during escalated issues while focusing on resolution of difficult technical issues.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 3-5 years of virtualized systems administration experience
- 3-5 years of Cisco UCS hardware and software support experience
- VMWare 4.x, vSphere 4.x, and ESXi/ESX troubleshooting
- 5+ years large environment experience working with enterprise server platforms
- Experience troubleshooting multiplatform connectivity
- Experience troubleshooting advanced VPN connectivity
- Experience troubleshooting load and disk I/O issues
- Demonstrated exceptional problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Able to troubleshoot platform performance in a virtualized environment
- Able to provide clearly written documentation suitable for technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred qualifications include:
- Industry certifications as appropriate (VCP, VCAP, VCDX, RHCE)
- In depth knowledge of Powershell scripting in order to gather data and automate tasks
- In depth knowledge of Perl scripting
- Understanding of Load Balancer technologies
- Understanding of Cisco Firewall Services Module
- Understanding of SQL in a virtualized environment
- Networking architecture and troubleshooting, operations management
- Technical Lead experience or senior level escalations experience
- Experience with various MS and UNIX based platforms
- BA or AA degree
