Financial Analyst – Fountain Foodservice Location: Plano, TX

Purpose:
Reporting to the Finance Manager – Fountain Foodservice, the senior financial analyst will provide financial decision support to the respective sales banner and provide analyses for volume, trade and marketing spend. Responsibilities also include the coordination and preparation of period forecasts and the annual operating plan. Additional responsibilities include performing analyses of actual-to-budget and year-over-year performance and helping to provide direction in identifying value creating opportunities.

Accountabilities
• Proactively manage trade and G&A spend to identify risks and opportunities and ensure budgets are not overspent at the end of the year.
o Analyze volume trends and trade spending, supporting funding needs to assigned zone ledgers via Marketing Funds. Develop close understanding of sales needs to ensure that all funding is consistently tracked throughout the year, with a continuous improvement approach to year-end accrual forecast accuracy.

• Coordinate all phases of the financial planning cycle including collection, consolidation, preparation, and maintenance of data, models, and schedules related to the planning cycle.
o Coordinate and assist in the annual process for budgeting and forecasting volume, trade and marketing spend, SG&A expenses and P&L reporting.
o Apply provided budget assumptions and prepare fully grounded Cause of Change explanations.
o Assist with identification of key risks and opportunities to the budgets and/or forecasts.
o Review and report on trade & marketing costs controlled by the sales teams.
o Analyze and explain trends not consistent with plan and/or forecast.
o Interact extensively with the sales and trade planning teams to ensure spend accuracy and to identify potential over / under spend.
• Provide timely and accurate periodic reporting of actual performance versus planned/forecast expectations and prior period performance. Provide grounded explanations of variances and recommendations, where appropriate, on risks and opportunities to the budget/forecast. Ensure that all budgets and forecasts are accurately input and reconciled in the financial systems. Prepare correcting journal entries to correct any issues identified.
o Prepare and review Profitability Analyses (e.g. Customer P&L, New Business Model), communicate results/findings to Finance Manager and commercial team as directed.
o Prepare for period reviews with sales personnel.
o Prepare Cost/Benefit Analysis of various programs.

• Evaluate profit & loss trends and provide guidance on opportunities and risks residing within the financial statements.
• Provide any ad-hoc reports and/or analysis as deemed appropriate by management.

Qualifications

Pre-Requisites

Candidate must have solid financial skills and must possess strong teamwork skills. Additional qualifications include:

• BS/BA Degree in Accounting/Finance.
• 2 - 3 years of financial experience and background as well as broad commercial business knowledge. Understanding of business process and analysis tools.
• Must possess analytical and technical skills. Advanced skills in Excel and other MS office applications; ability to model business requirements and prepare "what-if" analysis. Proficiency in SAP, Siebel and TM1 a plus.
• Must possess good written and oral communication skills and be able to manage multiple projects at one time.
