This position will sit in our Global Ecommerce business unit. This business unit provides a platform that simplifies everything from cross-border transactions to the shipment of merchandise through an integrated suite of web services designed to address the needs of online retailers, marketplaces, etc.

We are seeking a Sr. Technical Operations Engineer. This position will work out of San Francisco, CA office.

We are searching for a Senior Technical Operations Engineer with proven deployment, troubleshooting and coordination skills in supporting mission critical web based products. The individual will be a key member of a cross-functional E-Commerce team collaborating with product, engineering, professional services and support teams, on product development and deployment, infrastructure performance and capacity planning, as well as SLA compliance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Incident management:
  • Monitoring and first-on-the-scene support and triage of managed infrastructure, services and applications.
  • Drive efforts and follow ups to find the root cause
  • Continuous improvement, based on the issues discovered ongoing basis
  • Prepare and send external RCA document to internal/external customers
  • Work with all stakeholders to ensure SLAs are met
  • Monitor health of production systems using tools such as Splunk, Websitepulse, Nagios etc
  • Provide management reports showing system Health and uptime
  • Implement corrective actions to resolve issues.


Subject Matter Expert (SME):
  • Develop understanding of all product features and Pitney Bowes E-Commerce suite
  • Project management (Infrastructure based projects)
  • Collect requirements from customers, business, sales, service and engineering groups
  • Build, maintain and apply E-commerce product hosting related standards
  • Provide inputs, requirements for new initiatives
  • Design and Implement monitoring solutions


Deployment / Support:
  • Write deployment documents and plans.
  • Create network diagrams and process flows
  • Create requirements documents for network configuration
  • Create security hardening process for OS and Application


Monitoring tools and Automation
  • Manage and configure monitoring tools such as splunk, Nagios etc
  • Identify jobs/tasks that can be automated
  • Automate jobs using scripting
  • Document and train operations to run these jobs


System administration:
  • Work with Partner, Vendor teams for Infrastructure (Servers, Network, Storage, DB etc) related troubleshooting


Required Skills:
  • Extensive experience in system and network administration, both in Unix and Windows environments, including hands-on experience with cloud deployments.
  • Strong understanding and experience with modern service and application delivery architectures and technologies.
  • Experience working with and customizing management systems and monitoring tools and services.
  • Systems programming and general scripting, with particular emphasis on automation and ongoing management of infrastructure and deployed services and applications.
  • Ability to work with, deploy and/or integrate third party systems, APIs and solutions to meet NBO objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask
    Excellent communication skills


Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Hands-on software engineering experience or background, including web application development.
  • Experience with LDAP, single sign-on authentication and authorization technologies, and general security and PKI familiarity.
  • Ability to manage modern version control systems and repositories, with
  • Continuous Integration experience a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with SQL and commonly deployed database systems and replication strategies.

Qualification
  • Bachelor of Computer science..
