The ideal candidate will assist the other Database Administrators with the day-to-day operations and 7x24 production supports of the Production Database environments with a rotating weekend on-call. Responsibilities are but not limited to: Be responsible for the day-to-day operations and 7x24 production supports of the Production Database environments with a rotating weekend on-call. Install, configure, and manage development. staging, production, and disaster recovery database environments Implement proactive monitoring capabilities that ensure minimal disruption to the user community Monitor and tune performance; working across application, server/storage, database, and functional support areas to tune systems for optimal performance Create and manage user and security profiles; ensuring application security policies and procedures are followed Installation, configuration, customization, maintenance and performance tuning of SQL Server 2005, 2008 & 2012. Perform database optimization, administration and maintenance (partitioning tables, partitioning indexes, indexing, normalization, synchronization, job monitoring, etc.). Work with Network Operations teams to roubleshoot network and server issues and optimize the database environment.Share knowledge by effectively documenting work Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution. Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. Implement data models and database designs into physical databases. Support plans for Database patching, upgrades, and coordinate rollout. Performs advanced database administration activities including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, and may design disaster recovery procedures. Define Backup and Recovery strategies using Idera SQLSafe, Native SQL Server Backup/recovery Tools, and Red Gate. Supporting Microsoft SQL Severs 2005, SQL 2008R2, (SQL 2012 a plus) and Windows Server 20038.· Must have hands on experience with ETL, DTS, TSQL, SSRS, and SSIS. Ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in team environment. Expertise in performance tuning and optimization for SQL server, queries, stored procedures, views, etc. Proven ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies Ability to analyze existing systems and make recommendations on which technology best suits the business requirement for high availability, Disaster Recovery or high performance. Expertise in troubleshooting and performance monitoring SQL Server Database server (Query Tuning, Server Tuning, Disk Performance Monitoring, CPU bottlenecks etc.). Proficient in TSQL and writing efficient and highly performing SQL Statements. Proficient in SQL Server Internals, wait events, profiler, windows events, etc. Experience with database Merge and Transactional replication Understanding of database performance monitoring and analysis tools Experience with database disaster recovery planning and implementation Ability to work with application developers to analyze database performance and connectivity issues 5+ years' experience in Microsoft Windows/SQL Server Technologies.
