The Digital Architect will be a part of the transformational journey to deliver best in class transactional automotive retail and marketing sites to support AutoNation’s business lines, across digital channels. The Digital Architect will oversee and provide strategic direction and hands-on support for the architectural development of AutoNation’s digital presence including autonation.com web and mobile sites across a complex platform and multi-shore team. This role requires deep hands on technical knowledge of digital marketing/ecommerce as well as web, mobile and integration development including ASP.NET Web Development in customized SharePoint 2010 Web Content Management system.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Agile-based project development life cycle from planning and design to delivery for new development and production support fixes
  • Oversee and coordinate the Digital Architecture Review Board responsible for overall site standards and strategic digital technology direction
  • Evaluate technology products and solutions to support the evolving digital platform
  • Architect and develop digital, web, and mobile application solutions and enhancements that meet requirements
  • Analyze problems as assigned and provide solutions to address business needs
  • Coordination of associated deployment execution by offshore and managed hosting provider resources as needed for select hosted environments
  • Collaborate and support development team as subject matter advisor and hands-on architect in creation of Web, Mobile, Integration, SharePoint, FAST and CMS requirements, design, and development artifacts across the digital architecture
  • Assist in the rollout of new applications, problem fixes, and enhancements of software
  • Perform detailed planning and estimation of work effort involved in the development, and support of solutions
  • Create consistent and accurate technical and end-user documentation of implemented applications
  • Enforce adherence to development standards for enterprise and application architecture along with performance, SEO and web analytics requirements
  • Mentor junior developers on application teams for best practices and programming standards.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering or similar field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with client-server and web application programming in a Microsoft environment
  • Experience in delivering a complex enterprise web application across a multi-year, multi-shore Agile development environment
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the technology concepts, practices, and procedures including:

- Digital eCommerce Web Development

- Agile and Waterfall SDLC delivery experience
 - Technical Design and Development
 - Software development patterns
 - Languages: HTML5, CSS, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, Javascript, JQuery, XML, JSON, AJAX
 - Database: MS SQL Server 2008
 - Microsoft TFS, VSS, Powershell Scripting, Visual Studio 2010
 - Integration Skills – MSMQ, Windows Server AppFabric, WCF, WF, SOA (SOAP/REST)
 - Experience with Web Content Management Systems
 - Application performance tuning and optimization

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with SharePoint development

  • Configuration & Environment Management:
    - Code Versioning, Branching & Merging
    - Microsoft TFS
    - WSP Code Packaging and Deployment
    - MSI Packaging and Deployment
  • eCommerce Concepts – Web tagging and analytics, Search Engine Optimization (SEO concepts)

  • General Development Concepts – Object Oriented Programming, Frameworks, Code Generation, Design Patterns and Practices

  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills, code and design reviews along with architectural documentation

  • Learns quickly and can function with minimal supervision in a team environment

  • Ability to work in a mission critical fast-paced environment with ability to work flexible hours

  • Excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated organization and follow-up skills with strong initiative, commitment, and a positive attitude.
