About this job

This position is with the Community and State Medical Economics team. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of self-motivation that can lead a small team of analysts designed to identify emerging medical cost trends, and develop strategies that lead to the containment of those trends.


 


Positions in this function research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data, provides management with statistical findings and conclusions,identifies potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies and provides data in support of actuarial, financial and utilization analyses.


 


Additionally:
- Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers
  and/or senior level professional staff.
- Impact of work is most often at the operational or local business unit or market  level.
- Lead affordability agenda across multiple markets for Long Term Care Services & Support
- Serve as a mentor for employees with a direct and indirect reporting relationship
- Work side-by side with the Business Team and/or Finance personnel to support the business
  and financial goals and objectives of each health plan
- Conduct market medical expense trend review discussions with multiple levels of management,
  including plan and regional presidents, CFOs, CMOs and COOs
- Drive affordability opportunities with individual and regional partners
- Directly supervise key financial operating personnel as required;
  effectively support and promote the development of staff
- Facilitates cross-functional and/or cross-segment teams.

Requirements

Requirements:


- Bachelor's degree (Finance or Health Administration desirable) required


- Experience in Long Term Care required


- 3+ years of experience working with and analyzing LTSS and Medicare populations desired


- Excellent understanding of the various Medicaid products required


- Familiarity with CMS 1115 Waiver Demonstrations preferred


- 5+ years of experience in healthcare financial data analysis required


- Solid understanding and knowledge of medical claims data (diagnosis codes, procedure codes, etc.)


- Advanced medical economic experience and understanding of concepts such as return on investment


- Strong understanding of provider reimbursement methodologies, such as DRG and APC


- Advanced level proficiency with MS Excel and Access


- Excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational,


  analytical and leadership skills


- Proven research and analytical skills
