We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Meat Team Leader.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Meat Team Leader is responsible for the team members and all operational aspects of the meat department. It is your decision on what each Team Member should be doing at that time. Responsible for all ordering, supervising and enforcing store and company policies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish to prepare meat in cooking form
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery to ensure meat quality
  • Shape, lace, and tie roasts, using boning knife, skewer,and twine
  • Estimate requirements and order or requisition meat supplies to maintain inventories
  • Supervise other butchers or meat cutters
  • Wrap, weigh, label and price cuts of meat
  • Full-Time Work Schedule: Variable schedule; includes weekend responsibilities
  • Control & purchase inventory
  • Enforce store & company policies when the team leader is not present
  • Follow directives of store director & meat manager
  • Ability to supervise

JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/AGE:

Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a butcher & knowledge of all cuts of beef.

KNOWLEDGE:

Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effecting manufacturer and distribution of goods.

Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

SKILLS:

Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Service Orientation: Actively looking for ways to help people.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparing Weekly Schedules: Making sure staffing is correct & keeping budget under control.
Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Body Positions: Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Body Movements: Walking, turning head and torso, bending arms, wrists and fingers, squatting, kneeling, reaching over head. Must be capable of heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:

Language: Must be able to understand and communicate in English verbally and be able to read all necessary information pertaining to the position.
Mechanical: Must be able to work band saws, grinders, cube machine, patty machine, scales, hand wrapper and automatic wrapper

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work will be done primarily in a climate controlled store and warehouse environment. Storage cases, walk in boxes and prep rooms are kept at appropriately cold temperatures in which you will be required to perform certain tasks. Because of the nature of products sold, the store itself is kept colder than normal.
