We have a full-time opening for a Produce Team Leader.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Must possess in depth knowledge of all aspects of the produce industry.
  • Must have extensive technical skills in the areas of preparation, processing, and merchandising all varieties of produce.
  • Must possess competency in scheduling, ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
  • Must be able to answer questions, make recommendations and promote sales through suggestive selling.
  • Must possess the leadership skills required to train, develop, and supervise multiple individuals.
  • Must exhibit and demand the highest level of service to all customers of Best Yet Market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to:

  • Strives for excellent customer service and provides high quality produce.
  • Establishes and maintains a smooth functioning produce department while maximizing productivity consistent with Best Yet Market Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintains merchandising with a focus on fresh quality products, sanitation and safety in all food handling and presentation areas.
  • Provides product knowledge, preparation ideas, and recipe recommendation cards.
  • Supervises all produce presentation and preparations.
  • Maintains purchasing, receiving and food storage standards; conducts and calculates accurate food cost percentages and inventories.
  • Estimates production needs on a daily and weekly basis. Communicates production needs
  • to “key” associates on a daily basis.
  • Conducts monthly sanitation and safety inspections in accordance with OSHA, Department of Health, and Department of Weights and Measures standards. Provide accident prevention guidelines as well as periodically servicing all department equipment.
  • Maintains impeccable personal hygiene as well as high safety standards in the workplace, expected to set an example.
  • Develops annual operation budget for each store location and Department as a whole including wages, scheduling, inventory control, and food cost.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Related supervisory experience; or high school diploma or equivalent plus related industry experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge, and abilities. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize a variety of computer programs (MS Word, Excel).

CERTIFICATES: Food safety training certification highly desired.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Best Yet Market policies and procedures and all applicable laws.
  • Interviews and trains team members in product knowledge, merchandising, and food handling procedures.
  • Addresses all customer complaints and resolving internal problems immediately.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from others. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
