The Sr. Business Analyst is responsible for delivering applications to end users in the Franchise Network, corporate office, and customer community.  He\she will proactively identify technology opportunities that impact corporate business strategies and performance.  This position may work on special projects with top-level management of a specific business area and build consensus on IT investment decisions with executive management. 

The Sr. Business Analyst will also work closely with the Quality Assurance team as part of the process to ensure products meet requirements and specification created by the analysis team.  As part of this responsibility, the Sr. Business Analyst will participate in reviewing test plans and procedures to ensure test coverage and traceability as well as guidance for testing efficiencies. 

Other Duties

  • Facilitates discussions on requirements to fully understand business needs
  • Generates and modifies documentation to ensure clear understanding of solutions and processes
  • Presents requirements to ensure understanding throughout all levels of staff
  • Provides estimates and planning to support research and project specific activities
  • Plans, develops, and maintains project schedules to ensure timely project completion
  • Communicates appropriate budgetary requirements to ensure projects stay within budget constraints
  • Tracks project issues, risks and documents requirement discussions
  • Provide status reports to ensure management stays informed
  • Develops and maintains complex business processes
  • Strong understanding the software development lifecycle using waterfall, agile and iterative

  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Demonstrates a working knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information; identifies appropriate sources of information.
  • Technology Knowledge: Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment.

Minimum Qualifiers

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business Management – Preferred
  • Experience creating business, functional, and system requirements for software solutions – Preferred
  • PMBOK, PMI-PBA, CBAP Certification – Preferred
  • Experience using Team Foundation Server, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office or equivalent software - Preferred
