Primary responsibilities include:


  • Gathering facts, problem resolution, understanding contract requirements and performing detailed analysis of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.

  • Document analysis and research of complex transactions, including joint ventures, partnerships, etc to support business objectives.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policy manual. Assist in the implementation and documentation of new accounting pronouncements.

  • Monitor current developments and proactively communicate those that impact the organization.

  • Completing projects of an accounting, financial reporting or process improvement nature.

  • Develop tools and processes to assist Optum's businesses to appropriately apply policies and practices.

  • Provide education and training to various groups on "best practices"

 

Requirements


  • BS in Accounting or Finance or equivalent professional area required

  • Prior public accounting experience and CPA required, 10-12 years of progressive responsibility experience preferred

  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience in the implementation and resolution of complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters as well as the ability to effectively utilize accounting research tools

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in developing position papers and presenting to auditors and management

  • Proactively participates in company and business unit initiatives; active change agent within and outside finance
