BANQUET SERVER

Position Summary:

Responsible for serving banquet functions.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure that guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt attention at all times.
2. Follow banquet service standards and/or hotel guest service standards.
3. Stock break stations.
4. Set up all day service stations.
5. Maintain and constantly supply all designated stations with rotating items, according to specified times, supply, quantity, selections and eventual removal of leftovers.
6. Maintain and restock beverage stations as needed.
7. Maintain an accurate inventory of each item served to determine consumption quantities.
8. Serve food and beverage according to standards and instructions following food safety and sanitation procedures.
9. Clear dinnerware, glasses and silverware as courses are completed.
10. May assist as required with the set up and decoration of buffet.
11. Knowledge of complete menu and beverages on hand.
12. Work in a safe manner at all times, following proper lifting techniques, stacking, handling and carrying procedures for all dishes, sternos, cutlery and glassware.
13. Exercise caution and use judgement when handling/working with hot plates, soup urns and hot beverages.
14. Have knowledge of proper setup of displays and service wares including proper use of sternos or similar warming devices.
15. Have knowledge of A/V equipment such as flipcharts, overheads and projectors.
16. Maintain clean service areas.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the hotel, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
- The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.

Education and Experience:

- Previous banquet experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

- Ability to stand for a long period of time.
- Ability to carry/lift heavy items.
