Emergency Room Nurse - Emergency Nurse - (ER RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 N Pay Rate: $27.00 - 31.00
JOB SUMMARY
To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, and care for assigned patients. Assist with patients in ancillary departments or inpatients requiring procedures done in the emergency room. Participates in telephone triage of possible emergency room patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• assess a patient’s needs through interview, physical exam, review of records and reports, and consultations
• establish nursing diagnoses; determine nursing goals; develop a plan of care for the patient; evaluate the plan of care for the patients; participate in patient teaching and discharge planning and give direct patient care.
• function effectively in emergency situations; assure that the physician orders are carried out promptly and ask for clarification of physician’s orders as necessary.
• demonstrate discretion in handling confidential information.
• inform the Physician of changes in patient’s condition.
• Administer medication (I.V., I.M., P.O., S.Q., I.D.); comply with all OSHA and state and federal guidelines as directed by hospital policies.
The role of the emergency room nurse (ER RN) is to care for patients suffering from trauma or illness that requires emergency attention. The ER RN must recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions, with the ability to deploy rapid assessment and treatment of patients in highly critical situations, particularly during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma, where every second is important. Emergency nurses must possess knowledge about healthcare on general and specific levels and provide quality care to patients of all ages. Additionally, the ER RN must be prepared to treat a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, ranging from a fever to a heart attack.
Required Qualifications
Active TNCC required
Active ACLS required -must be AHA
Active BLS required - must be AHA
Active IA or compact state RN license
Min 2 years recent ER experience
Willign to float to ICU or MS as needed
Exp in Critical Care units
Critical Care hospital experience
