Traffic Control Flaggers Job Description
Flag motorists to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead and control traffic during street and road maintenance. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Set out signs and cones around work areas to divert traffic
- Drive trucks to transport crews and equipment to work sites for street and road maintenance
- Drive heavy equipment and vehicles with adjustable attachments to mow grass and weeds and use a weed whacker
- Dump, spread, and tamp asphalt, using pneumatic tampers, to repair joints and patch broken pavement to repair streets and roads
- Operate machines to spread, smooth, level, or steel-reinforce stone, concrete, or asphalt on road beds
- Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using mechanics' hand tools, or report malfunctions to supervisors
Ideal Traffic Control Flaggers Candidates
- Certification of flagging required
- Physically able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, and lift a minimum of 40 pounds
- Steel toe boots will be required at all times in the work area
- Reliable transportation
- Excellent attendance
Pay Rate: $8.00 per hour
Shift/Hours: 1st shift, Monday - Friday
