Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Plant Maintenance Supervisor for our Technical Operations Department in Kansas City, MO.
Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
PURPOSE:
To organize and control the daily aspects of the Plant Maintenance department.
REPORTS TO:
Manager of Plant Maintenance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises trains, promotes, schedules, motivates, evaluates and disciplines plant maintenance technicians.
- Plans budgets, allocates resources and purchases departmental tools and equipment.
- Maintains system logs and records to reflect current status of work performed in the field.
- Supervises all activities related to outside plant testing, maintenance, documentation and emergency restoration.
- Exercises daily supervision over Plant Maintenance staff to ensure that productivity and quality goals are met.
- Interacts closely with the TOC and Operations departments to ensure proper coordination exists for the correction of system related problems.
- Assists with the accumulation and recording of data so that required reporting of Plant Maintenance activities are submitted in a timely manner.
- Responsible to coordinate the resolution of customer complaints in a timely manner so that customer satisfaction goals are met.
- Formulates implements and enforces new policies and procedures.
- Inspects plant to assure quality through proper and safe procedures.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the evaluation, ordering and distribution of departmental materials to ensure that staff has adequate resources for daily operation.
- Must have the ability to respond to outages in a reasonable amount of time while on standby.
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB RELATED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
A working knowledge of network construction and practices preferred.
Requires a valid driver ' s license.
Requires extensive knowledge of forward and reverse systems as well as system powering and repair.
Ability to work with Computers with spreadsheet experience.
Knowledge of fiber optic systems, their maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of plant construction and specifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor ' s Degree in Electronic Communications, Telecommunications or satisfactory completion of an electronic technology program through a military, correspondence or technical/trade school is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of Five years CATV, Broadband Telecommunications Network, Fiber Optic experience and all phases of the Plant Maintenance operations required. Four of more years ' experience with ICOMS, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines and re-prioritize as needed.
Ability to assist technicians in analyzing and resolving technical issues in ways other than which have been utilized in the past.
Ability to interact in a professional manner with employees at all levels within the organization to include external vendors.
Must be detail oriented and produce work with a high degree of accuracy.
Must be highly organized and possess strong leadership and management skills
Requires ability to work efficiently, effectively and independently
Must be able to identify training needs, prepare training materials and present information in a comprehensive manner.
Requires ability to express oneself in a clear, concise and organized manner both verbally and in writing
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to climb poles to 20 feet utilizing steps, ladders and gaffs - occasional
Must be able to drive a company vehicle - frequent
Standing, walking - frequent
Sitting, lifting materials up to 50 pounds - occasionally
Talking, typing and reading on a computer - ordinary occasions
Communicates in person, by telephone and written correspondence
Works in an inside and outside environment during all seasons
HUMAN RELATIONS:
Interacts closely with TOC and Operations departments as well as all other Departments and Plant maintenance employees.
MATERIALS AND SPECIAL EQUIPMENT USED:
Telephone, computer, calculator, printer, copier, fax machine, various hand tools, various pieces of test equipment including signal level meter and spectrum analyzer.
