Job Description: Under the direction of Operations, the selector/loader receives, selects, and loads product utilizing both material handling equipment and manual labor while maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary work area.

5 MUST HAVES FOR THE POSITION:
1. Some kind of FOOD ORDER PICKING EXPERIENCE OR FOOD DISTRIBUTION BACKGROUND
2. MUST HAVE A FRIDGE, COOLER, OR FREEZER EXPERIENCE
3. MUST HAVE FULL CASE or CASE(totes) PICKING EXPERIENCE
4. MUST COME FROM A COMPANY THAT HAD QUOTAS OR PRODUCTION STANDARDS
5. MUST HAVE ELECTRIC PALLET JACK EXPERIENCE.

Work Environment: large warehouse that does work for McDonalds.

- The selector/loader works in different temperatures in and around the building. Various temperatures are determined by location.

1. Dry area – temperature varies as to seasonal climate (65¿ to 90¿ F.)
2. Cooler area (34¿ to 38¿ F.)
3. Freezer area (0¿ to -10¿ F.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. RECEIVING: Following Quality Inspection Program (QIP) procedures, receives product inclusive of accurate inventory count and documentation, from semi-trailers onto dock utilizing material handling equipment. Product is placed in designated slot area. Product is slotted according to first-in, first-out inventory for dry goods and rotated by use through date for refrigerated and frozen.

2. SELECTION: Using case selection requirements, i.e. cases per hour, over, short and damage, and following a load diagram and labeling procedures, with the aid of material handling equipment, product is selected from designated slot areas and palletized.

- Products, which are in cardboard boxes, also known as cases, for selection, are typically stored within a dimension of 2-3 pallet loads ranging in height from approximately 6’ to over 9’. Selector/loader typically reaches to great heights to retrieve products. When pallet load is reduced, it then ranges in height from 10” to 15”, resulting in the selector/loader bending down to select product.

- Cases weigh from a minimum of one pound up to 67 pounds. The average weight is 20 to 60 pounds. Selected pallets are manually stretch wrapped and put in designated staging areas in proper loading sequence.

3. LOADING:Following a load diagram, palletized products are selected from inventory and staging areas using material handling equipment. They are then loaded from designated dock areas onto the semi-trailer. Some selection may be required due to product added to truck after initial order has been selected.

4. CLEANING: Empty pallets, slipsheets and stretch wrap are removed from selection area to designated areas. Cleanliness of the Distribution Center is maintained according to golden state foods policy, McDonald’s standards and Silliker, a food inspection corporation.

5. SAFETY: Performs all tasks to assure personal safety, safety of others and protection of the Center and its equipment

Job standards:

- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Functional mobility and physical strength consistent with the essential functions but not limited to the ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, twist, bend, and climb.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, directions, schedules, policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
