Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a Level 1, 885 bed teaching pediatric and adult trauma center (teaching hospital) The ED has a 24 bed pediatric ED and a 60 bed adult ED.
General Info: Exams given on the first day: Math, Med Administration, EKG.

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a Level 1 pediatric and adult trauma center. The ED has a 24 bed pediatric ED and a 60 bed adult ED. The Medical Center is a regional referral center for cardiac, stroke, pediatric, burns, trauma, etc.
Nurse patient ratio is 1: 4 and the average number of visits per day is 300.
The role of the emergency room nurse (ER RN) is to care for patients suffering from trauma or illness that requires emergency attention. The ER RN must recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions, with the ability to deploy rapid assessment and treatment of patients in highly critical situations, particularly during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma, where every second is important. Emergency nurses must possess knowledge about healthcare on general and specific levels and provide quality care to patients of all ages. Additionally, the ER RN must be prepared to treat a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, ranging from a fever to a heart attack.
