A company leading in the global steel industry is adding a Proposal Engineer to their team. Fantastic direct hire opportunity based in Charlotte with international travel!

This person will be involved in the proposal phases of a project; contract negotiations; presentations to clients, consultants, and project partners.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and proposal phases of the company’s iron-making technology projects as directed by Manager – Proposals. This includes performing Process Engineering calculations and utilizing in-house Process Engineering design programs to support development of plant proposal equipment lists.

  • Participate directly in contract negotiations with potential clients.

  • Prepare and give presentations to prospective clients, consultants, and project partners.

  • Identify situations requiring the need for confidentiality/secrecy agreements with outside companies to help protect the company and the company’s technology.

  • Prepare feasibility studies, market studies, and other studies as required to develop assigned projects.

  • Develop and maintain schedules and milestones for project development database and sales activities.

  • Provide information for maintaining the sales project development database.

  • Prepare reports as required to keep management informed of project activities.

  • Assist in preparation of cost evaluations for management review.

  • Take responsibility for making sure proposal and contract development comply with the company’s ISO procedures.

  • Prepare/present papers and attend conferences and seminars in support of commercial activities.

  • Support Manager –Proposals in communications and relationships with existing construction partners and business partners.

  • Maintain close contact with commercial and technical groups to keep abreast of new developments in the company and technology.

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

    BS Chemical Engineering Degree preferred.

    Minimum of 0-5 years experience in a heavy industrial (steel industry preferred).

    Excellent writing and oral presentation skills.

    Ability to effectively interface with all types of people inside and outside the company. Ability to organize and manage multiple sales projects and other activities.

    Ability and willingness to travel internationally.

    Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based PC hardware/software equipment and programs.
