Unit Details:
Total # of beds in the unit: 32. Nurse to patient ratios 1:3 per patient. No Ancillary Staff. Type of Patient: 0-17 yrs old. Staff works in 12 hour shifts. Unit patient population: Orthopedic, Urology, cardiac and diabetics. Documentation System: Health Connect. Supplemental Staff required to float when necessary. Scrubs can be any color, RN provides their own scrubs
The role of the pediatric nurse (Pedi RN / Peds RN) is to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate care to patients aged approximately 30 days to 18 years. Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, pediatric nurses specialize in providing age-appropriate care for children with a variety of physical and mental disabilities and/or acute and chronic medical and surgical conditions. The Pedi RN also collaborates with the patient’s family to best promote healthful practices and disease prevention.
Required Qualifications
1. 2 years experience in Pediatrics
2. BLS, PALS
3. Telemetry experience
Preferred Qualifications
Chemo certificate preferred.
