JOB TITLE: Shop Welder
PAY RATE: $18-$21/hr
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must pass a weld test per AWS or ASME in the processes they are applying for: will have to pass either a bend test or x-ray welding with 7018 in vertical position
Must have experience in the use of the following tools: 4 and 8 pound hammer, fit up bar, grinders, chipping hammers, magnetic drills and cutting tools
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND TASKS:
Must be able to weld with 7018 and downhill using 6010
Must be able to manually move 100 feet of weld lead
Must be able to assist in the moving of steel plate: unloading, loading, hanging, aligning, fitting and cutting: movement is done both manually and with assistance of a crane
Must be able to grind weld seams in preparation for x-ray, chip off weld burs, and other plate surface cleaning
Must be able to safely perform all duties
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES And TASKS:
Layout of steel plate, reading of blueprints
REQUIREMENTS:
- Drug Test
- Welding Test is required
SCHEDULE:
8-5PM, Mon-Fri
8 hours per day, 5 days per week; able to work overtime when necessary Begin work promptly at designated time
WORK CONDITIONS:
Worker is on feet, kneeling or bending all day and work is done outside in all weather conditions. Worker will be required to wear a hardhat, safety glasses, ear plugs and back brace at all times – a welding hood when appropriate.
