MENTOR Oregon supports adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury and other complex needs in a variety of community-based programs throughout the state. Every person needs the support of others, but we look for very special people to support individuals with disabilities; behavioral and/or medical complexities. As a Life Skills Trainer with MENTOR Oregon, you will be one of those special people.

Life Skills Trainers are the link to the community for those they serve. For some, they may be the eyes of those unable to see, or the voice for those who cannot speak. For others, they are friend, cheerleader, and subtle support on the path to one’s life of their dreams.

MENTOR Oregon is seeking Life Skills Trainers to assist children who experience developmental disabilities in a community-based setting. Life Skills Trainers provide assistance with daily activities such as meal preparation and planning; medication administration; and personal care. Life Skills Trainers may also facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals on outings in the community or providing transportation to work or other activities. In addition, Life Skills Trainers support therapeutic and behavioral plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.

Qualifications

Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED

· Must be 18 years of age

· Be able to be an authorized driver

· Six months of experience in human services preferred

· Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks

Compensation: $12.00 per hour + available benefits for full time status
