Sr. Oracle DBA

Overview:

Under general direction, designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, guidelines and statistical methods. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through Database design. Proficient on multiple database platforms. Provides guidance/training for less experienced Database Analysts. Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of Database management.

Key Accountabilities:

• Proficient on multiple database platforms.
• Designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL that achieve the objective; are well designed, efficient and conform to standards.
• Designs, implements and maintains databases with regard to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, guidelines and statistical methods.
• Maintains database dictionaries.
• Provides overall monitoring of standards and procedures and integration of systems through Database design.
• Provides guidance/training for less experienced Database analysts.
• Delivers assignments by established deadlines.
• Keeps management well-informed on a timely basis of progress, status and/or concerns for each assignment.
• Able to act as lead Database Analyst on projects.
• Participates in the 'on-call' rotation.
• Able to act as Supervisor in his/her absence.

Skills Summary:

• Bachelors Degree preferred and 5-7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5-8 years experience with one or more of the following Databases; Datacom, Oracle, and/or Access and multi-platform operating systems, OS/DOS, UNIX.
• Good analytical skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent debugging skills relating to database performance and errors on multi-platforms.
• Ability to work under deadlines and heavy workloads.
