On behalf of Innovation Research and Training (IRT), Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking Part-Time Data Collectors to work on a research study primarily in Person and Granville Counties, NC.
POSITION SUMMARY
Data Collectors will work on the Family Media Project, administering an assessment to parents and children grades 3 – 5. The purpose of the Family Media Project is to study parent-child pairs' use of a web-based media literacy program and computer game designed for families, as well as beliefs and behaviors regarding media and substance use. Data Collectors will meet with parent-child pairs at an assigned community site and appointed time to complete data collection efforts. In addition to data collection, the data collector will also engage in participant recruitment for the project. Recruitment methods will include but not be limited to the following: Posting flyers, dropping off flyers at pre-approved businesses or organizations, and attending community or school events to talk with parents about the project.

This position is part time, offering roughly 15 - 20 hours/week through December 2014. We are looking for individuals who will be able to work evening and weekend hours, and are able to commit to the duration of the project.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
TRAINING AND PAY
Data Collectors will be expected to attend an in –person paid training; date to be determined. Attendance at training is mandatory. Trainees must successfully complete training to continue employment on the project. Data Collectors must also complete all required ethics and data security training prior to beginning work on this study.
This position will offer an hourly rate, dependent on experience.

- Be available 15+ hours each week to collect data for the duration of the study period.
- Prompt, reliable and accurate reporting to project management.
- Have reliable personal automobile available for business use.
- Be available and willing to work evenings and weekend hours as required by your specific assignment.
- Complete the required number of interviews by the end of the data collection period in an efficient and timely manner.
- Obtain cooperation of study participants by effectively answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Administer informed consent to all study participants.
- Accurately complete all project documentation, including electronic survey instruments and all reporting forms.
- Adhere to project deadlines for completing interviews, reporting progress and returning materials and equipment.
- Keep all project information confidential.
- Ability and Comfortable with recruiting participants for the study.
- Ability to carry project-related equipment, approximately 10 pounds.
- Ability to complete all required activities in a professional manner, while maintaining the integrity of all information acquired.
- Maintain a professional, cooperative relationship with your Field Manager and other project staff, objectively sharing your thoughts while displaying an understanding of project management's concerns.
- Be receptive—not defensive—when given feedback from project personnel about your performance, striving to learn and improve.
- Assume responsibility for and carefully track all project materials.
