Primary Responsibilities:


 


The Community Outreach Coordinator will market our Optum Hospice and Palliative Care program to referral sources in a designated market and have the opportunity to be part of something daring and bold.  This role builds and manages customer alliances with the ability to create, nurture, cultivate, manage and protect referral relationships within the local health care market.



Be part of an elite team that formulates and coordinates wide-reaching educational opportunities in the community for general educational programs; joint educational programs with hospitals, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities and other affiliated institutions; physicians and their staff, faith-based communities, businesses, and social organizations of major strategic significance.
This role assists the Executive Director in developing annual plans for general community outreach and education to external audiences and constituencies including but not limited to: broad-based media initiatives, annual corporate events, community functions, community work projects; community boards; disease specific associations; and service functions and sponsorships.



  • Completes all job duties in a manner that meets the accepted standards of practice and the Optum Hospice & Palliative Care policies and procedures

Requirements

Required Qualifications:




  • 2+ years successful health care sales experience


  • 3+ years prior sales experience

Preferred Skills:




  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing or related field (education, journalism, communications, etc.) or equivalent work experience


  • Ability to manage multiple priorities including visiting referral sources on a regular basis and following up on leads in a timely fashion


  • Proven success developing referral relationships with key healthcare decision makers in settings that include hospital, nursing home, assisted living, and physician offices


  • Experience in developing and maintaining new business relationships, customer service and conflict resolution experience within the health care sales arena


  • Ability to teach, public speak and/or communicate effectively with individuals and/or groups


  • Computer skills using sales software, MS office suite and other applications


  • Experience Hospice sales management


  • Knowledge of hospice industry trends


  • High degree of skill in human relations, teaching, and communications


  • Ability to oversee production of written materials used for outreach


  • Ability to communicate complex health care information to potential clients


  • Reliable transportation with appropriate license and insurance coverage


  • Ability to sell a 'service oriented business with an end of life philosophy' not a tangible product


  • Ability to work as a telecommuter


  • Ability to come up with unique ways to market programs


  • Reliable transportation


  • Negotiation skills


  • Experience in healthcare account management


  • Need to develop strategic planning to increase referral sources


  • Knowledge of palliative care
