Job Responsibilities

Plan details of working procedures by determining replacement needs or new material required and develop a logical approach to correct the problem.

Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service, or replace electronic devices and systems.

Use wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from supervisor covering emergency and scheduled repairs, installations, and electrical inspection work to be performed.

Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment. Starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and inline with OSHA requirements.

Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards and other similar electronic devices.

Fabricate parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade.

Determine need for, analyzes, and makes necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls.

Advises and cautions operators and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.

Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective actions taken.

Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment and materials.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.


Other Responsibilities:



Participate in planning and overhaul of equipment.

May be involved in project work working with contractors.

May be called in on off shifts for emergencies including holidays.

Be involved in plant audits used to identify electrical problems.

Perform other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



Ability to climb overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.

Must meet the company's substance abuse testing requirements.

Must have a high degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required. The ability to have high degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to others when responsible for flow of electrical power.

The ability to handle pressure situations.

Must have a 12th grade math level.

Good communication skills

Must have analytical and problem solving skills

Must be able to read and understand operations manuals and follow oral or written instructions.

Must be self motivated.

Must have welding skills, plumbing skills, carpentry skills and mechanical aptitude skills

Education and Experience:


High School Diploma or GED required.

Vocational school or junior technical college training in electrical plus 2 years experience; or 5-years of experience in industrial maintenance.

Desired Junior technical college, or equivalent apprenticeship program



Pay Rate

$14-$18 per hour depending upon experience.
