UnitedHealthcare Community & State is seeking a Healthcare Economics Consultant with strong business acumen, budgeting/forecasting and financial reporting experience, and well developed financial modeling skills to join our Minnetonka, MN team.

Primary Responsibilities:
Research, retrieve, design and deliver organized analytics and reporting of medical claims
Analyze benchmarking data, reports, processes and measurements for key managed care indicators
Forecast costs, utilization trends and create financial models using claims and other healthcare data
Assist in making decisions of considerable impact and consequence involving healthcare expense trends
Independently interpret data, facts and/or trends
Develop innovative approaches to achieve deliverables
Ad Hoc analysis
Work in a self-directed, non-prescribed format with less structured, more complex issues
Serve as a resource to others

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Health Administration or another technical related field from an accredited college or university
- Strong Excel skills: data analysis & report generation (formulas, calculations, pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience with data analysis and working with large data sets required; background of collecting data using different sources
- 2+ years of healthcare or healthcare insurance experience
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills
- Comfortable in interactions with various levels of management
- Ability and willingness to be flexible and adaptable
- Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision
- Self-motivated to prioritize work on multiple complex assignments
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Possess the ability to consolidate data and tell the story on the findings
- Be comfortable with changing priorities and an environment of continued organizational change
- Possess a background in the healthcare Industry; general knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare and/or Commercial health plans
- Be familiar with UHG healthcare data systems such as SMART and OLR
- Healthcare Economics and/or PBM experience with knowledge of claims systems, benefits, etc.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of medical claims data
- Experience working in an Enterprise Data Warehouse environment
- Experience working with MS Access
