About this job

On behalf of The RAND Corporation, Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking Part Time Field Trackers to support a government sponsored research study.

RAND, a non-profit research organization, was founded in 1948. For more than six decades, RAND has used rigorous, fact-based research and objective analysis to help individuals, families, and communities throughout the world live safer, healthier, and more prosperous lives. At RAND, results are fueled by the best data, the strongest methods, and the brightest minds.

As a Headway Field Tracker for RAND, you will support the Early Head Start Research and Evaluation Project (EHS) by traveling locally to specific neighborhoods and collecting updated contact information from families enrolled in the EHS longitudinal study. This data collection will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of this study.

As a professional Field Tracker for RAND you'll:
  • Personally visit families' last known addresses, kindly and effectively communicate with previous neighbors, and use other techniques to track families.
  • Conduct follow-up interviews with families who have not responded to a mail, web, or telephone survey.
  • Encourage and assist families to provide their updated contact information.
  • Keep accurate records of all collections, maintain frequent communication with supervisors, and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Work a fluid, part-time schedule including many evenings and weekends.
  • Need to pass a Megan's Law background check.

To do this job well, you'll need these skills:
  • You demonstrate a friendly, approachable, confident personality and enjoy working with people you've never met.
  • You love the challenge of researching and locating hard-to-find information.
  • You're comfortable navigating carefully selected low-income housing units and neighborhoods.
  • You have an eye for data collecting and exhibit excellent time management skills.
  • You stay motivated and are able to come up with creative approaches to problems.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish/English is a plus (in some areas).

If you have a background as a skip Tracker or other skiptrace or investigative experience this could be a great opportunity to put those detective skills to work on a great project. Additionally, if you have a background in social work, data collecting, outside sales, teaching, or coursework/professional experience in related fields, we would love to hear from you!

Field Tracker Specifics:
  • Pay for this position depends on past experience. It will be an hourly rate with travel reimbursed at $.56 per mile.
  • Data collection for this project is estimated to last through December 2014 or until all data is collected.
  • Valid driver's license, dependable car, and proof of auto insurance is required.

Training for this position is tentatively scheduled for mid-August. Training will take place via video-conference and your attendance is mandatory. You must successfully complete training to continue employment on the project.

Go ahead, knock our socks off!
