Auto Gas/Diesel Mechanic

Auto Gas/Diesel Mechanic Summary: Repair and inspect company vehicles & equipment in a safe, timely, cost effective and practical manner.




Auto Gas/Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
  • Routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Build, rebuild and repair all parts of light gasoline automobiles & heavy-duty diesel trucks, as may be required in the department assigned to.
    • Repairs will include preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, tire repairs, warranty procedures, driveline, steering, suspension, electrical, AC, refrigeration, overheads and overhauls/rebuilds of engines and transmissions
  • Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, other breakdown or failure.
  • Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of the components parts and systems.
  • Read precision instruments.
    • Micrometers, dial indicators, bored gauges, etc.
  • When applicable, use welding skills.
  • Other duties may be assigned


Qualified Candidates For The Auto Gas/Diesel Mechanic Position Will Have Met The Following:
  • Required:
    • Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED & 3-4 years of related equipment maintenance and repair; OR 5+ years of related equipment maintenance and repair.
    • CDL, or ability to obtain
    • Valid drive license
    • ASE Certifications
  • Preferred:
    • Mechanical or trade school certificate
    • ASE Master certified



Working Conditions:

Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
