Lead Diesel Technician

Lead Diesel Technician Summary: Repair and inspect company equipment in a safe, timely, cost effective and practical manner.


Lead Diesel Technician Shift: M-F; 1st Shift (6:30am-3:00pm)



Lead Diesel Technician Responsibilities:
  • Routine and preventative maintenance.
  • DOT Inspections on fleet of heavy-duty trucks and/or buses, as may be required in the department assigned to.
  • Repairs will include preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, tire repairs, warranty procedures, driveline, steering, suspension, electrical, AC, refrigeration, overheads and overhauls/rebuilds of engines and transmissions
  • Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, other breakdown or failure
  • Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of the components parts and systems.
  • Read precision instruments, such as:
    • Micrometers, dial indicators, bored gauges, etc.
  • When applicable, use welding skills.
  • Other duties may be assigned


Qualified Candidates For The Lead Diesel Technician Position Will Have Met The Following:
  • Required:
    • Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED & 3+ years of related equipment maintenance and repair; OR 5+ years of related equipment maintenance and repair.
    • CDL
  • Preferred:
    • Mechanical or trade school certificate
    • ASE certificates



Working Conditions:

Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
