POSITION PURPOSE -
Performs the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks related to the development of an enterprise Linux security architecture.

 Scope of Activities:

  • Understand, advocate and augment the principles of business and IT — and more specifically Linux security architecture — strategies.
  • Design and lead the Linux security architecture domain by aligning business requirements and IT strategies, detecting critical deficiencies, and recommending solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Document, recommend and review Linux security architecture projects (for example, business requirements, architectural design and build/operate artifacts).
  • Oversee and facilitate the evaluation, selection and design of Linux security technology complying with standards.
  • Work with information security leadership and cross-functional teams to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and address identified risks.
  • Involved in planning the delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members.
  • Provides second- and third-level support and analysis during and after security incidents.
  • Research and assess new threats and security alerts and recommend remedial actions.

The Architect is responsible for the design, implementation and lifecycle management of technology architectures and application architectures that support one or more application systems. The Architect is responsible for identifying and implementing technology and application solution designs and delivering sustainable, cost-effective business applications based on industry and business research. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must pass the Drug Test. Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 9

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of enterprise solutions and architectures, e.g. Cloud, OpenStack, Big Data, virtualization, storage, RDBMS, ERP (Oracle, SAP), middleware, clustered file systems, and high availability
  • Seven to 10 years of experience related Linux security including architecture, design, monitoring and management tools, and operations:
    • yum and RPM for software installation
    • Kernel/system hardening and monitoring
    • Compilers, Bugzilla, Git, and CVS source control systems
    • High-end enterprise storage subsystems  (iSCSI, FCoE, or vendor-specific multipath storage)
    • Product and technology knowledge with open source
    • Securing Apache Tomcat (SSL Certificates)
  • Expert Level in multiple scripting languages (Shell scripting, Perl, Python, PHP, Java). Should be able to connect database, manipulate basic data-structures, regular expressions, basic modularity, error handling 
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), VMware VCP, or ITIL certifications are a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
