Position Summary

The Sr. Technical Architect will be responsible for leading Cox’s Global RMS systems architecture and design efforts. In this role, s/he will have responsibility for elements of RMS as they relate to architectural and design governance, architectural roadmap, and quality policy with accountability for key design decisions. The successful candidate will accomplish all of this while working with individuals across Cox’s automotive assets to assure a coordinated and unified approach to the market.

Major Responsibilities

· Drive the technical strategy and lead team(s) in meeting the strategic objectives

· Designs complex systems at the component level, makes strategic technology choices, and directly supervises the quality of designs and implementation inside and between components

· Influence development managers to insure appropriate levels of quality on Manheim architecture(s)

· Collaborates effectively with peers to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas and resolves technological disagreement with informed, rational debate

· Arbitrates disagreements among engineers and make decisions where needed without damaging relationships

· Coaches, mentors, and delegates to software engineers to facilitate their development

· Utilize your skills to help us develop and deliver a wide range of high profile, accessible and standards compliant web products

· Working with colleagues and technical resources to define technical solutions to meet business requirements using agreed tools and technologies

· Develop solutions in-line with company standards and practices

· Carry out unit, systems and integration testing during code development

· Contribute to the ongoing development of best practices, identification of suitable new tools and system/service improvements

· Liaise as appropriate with suppliers and partners to integrate 3rd party solutions

· Potentially, to pick up and work with legacy projects

· To rise to the occasion and put in all efforts to help meet a deadline to a client

· To have a degree of responsibility for the correct delivery of a project

Critical Competencies for Success

· Experience in start-up businesses and/or business-to-business experience, with entrepreneurial spirit is ideal

· Experience developing and managing lighthouse customer (high-focus, high-investment customers) expectations and aligning solution architecture appropriately

· Experience building alignment and marshaling resources across disparate organizations and functions to reach his/her goals; can build teams across boundaries and with peers. Able to blend people into teams when needed; creates strong morale and spirit

· Is a self-starter, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including tactical and strategic issues

Qualifications

Technical skills & knowledge requirements

· Ten+ years of experience designing and building applications, with a minimum of ten years in internet systems architectures (a strong preference)
Commercial, consumer-oriented website experience is a plus

· Strong experience with object-oriented software development methodologies and practices

· Significant experience (10+ years) with C#

· Experience with relational databases and web service architectures a plus

· Compares, contrasts, and prioritizes among alternative approaches to meet those objectives while assessing risk both quantitatively and qualitatively.

· Demonstrates seasoned judgment to suggest approaches that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities

· Influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management

· Comfortably moves between highly varying levels of abstraction from business strategy to product strategy to high level technical design to detailed technical design to implementation

· Clearly documents and communicates objectives, requirements, and designs at these different levels of abstraction to both technical and non-technical audiences

· Extensive knowledge of the ASP.Net 3+ using C#

· Experience in building similar systems, as well as a good understanding of configuration management, testing and bug tracking

· The ability to understand, improve and debug code is important

· Experience of object orientated environments

· Excellent understanding of web technologies

· In-depth knowledge and experience of the software development lifecycle

· UML knowledge desirable

· Minimum 10 years software development experience

· Knowledge of SQL Server 2005/8/12

· Knowledge of BizTalk 2009/10/13

· Expert knowledge of Microsoft technologies
