This role will own the end-to-end data and technology experience for the Optum Labs user (Partners, Constellations, Internal Teams), and will be responsible for Optum Labs relationship with other Optum Shared Service teams that provide data management and application hosting. The VP of Data Product will be responsible of Product Management, Architecture, Application Engineering, Support, and Data Acquisition roadmaps for Optum Labs. This role will also be responsible for Lab Power Tools – applications developed by Optum Labs to assist in the discovery and development of new research and development products


 


 


Responsibilities:



  • This position requires experience as a Senior Director or Vice President or equivalent in Software as a Service (SaaS) or data oriented business, like social media, financial services, e-commerce, or insurance

  • This person will need to be able to present well to C-suite partners and prospects, as well as working with their peers in Optum Data Management, OTC, and our partners

  • This person will manage a team responsible for building and maintaining “Data as a Product”, data and technology architecture, application engineering, content management and level 2 support

  • Directs others to resolve business problems that affect multiple functions or disciplines

  • Product, service or process decisions are most likely to impact multiple functions and/or customer accounts (internal or external)

  • Reviews product performance against expectations and facilitates or influences changes to product portfolio to improve competitive position and optimal product performance

  • May work with internal or external business constituents to determine product future direction or respond to product inquiries

  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and direction through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff

  • Work most often impacts a large business unit, or multiple markets/sites

 

Requirements

Qualifications: 



  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree

  • 5+ years of experience in leadership of Software Development and/or Information Technology and/or similar technical leadership position

  • 5+ years of experience managing direct and indirect employees

  • 3+ years of leading Agile software development teams

  • 3+ years of experience with NOSQL technologies (Hadoop, MongoDB, etc.) preferred

  • Familiarity with private and public cloud virtualization

  • Familiarity with large scale data warehousing and ETL workflows

  • Experience in Devops approach to deployment and operations including Continuous Delivery and Deployment models

  • Demonstrated ability to manage people and prioritize deliverables

  • Proven organizational skills with ability to be flexible, work in cross-functional and matrixed teams, and work with ambiguity
