Agriberry Farm is looking for dedicated, responsible farm workers for the fall season (hiring ASAP, job runs until approximately end of November). Work available M-F 7-3:30, some Saturdays.
Principal Responsibilities:
--Harvest, pack and load berries in a safe, efficient manner, ensuring productivity and quality goals are met or exceeded, adhering to all food safety practices and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), satisfying all related training requirements.
-Care for plants as instructed and assigned by Field Supervisor, including pruning, pest scouting, weeding, tying, thinning and tucking plants.
-Safe and responsible use of any tools provided by Agriberry Farm ( i.e., trowels, hoes, pruning shears, and loppers) and return of them in good condition at the end of each assignment.
-Assist in the construction of trellises or irrigation activities.
-Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
-Tolerance of extreme temperatures (cold or heat) and other outdoor environmental factors (insects, sun, humidity, thorns, mud) for 6-8 hours a day;
-Compliance with protective clothing requirements (long pants and long sleeves, hats);
-Able to repetitively lift and carry up 25 lbs.;
-Good visual acuity to identify weeds, pests, and crops ready for harvest;
-Repetitively stand, sit, bend, kneel, stretch and squat for long periods of time;
-Sufficient dexterity of hands, arms and fingers to be able to perform the principal responsibilities of the Farm Worker job (harvest fruit; install, position, and move materials; and to manipulate tools and equipment);
-Pass a background check and other pre-employment screening;
-Demonstrate an interest local farming and/or agriculture;
-Remain focused while performing repetitive functions;
-Maintain enthusiasm, good attitude, honesty, and a willingness to treat all co-workers with respect, despite physically challenging work conditions.
Additional Desirable Skills:
-Prior agricultural experience, with references;
-Fluency in work-related English;
-Knowledge of pest management practices and techniques;
-Knowledge and ability to distinguish different plants; and
-Ability to receive text messages.
